Siberian tiger is the biggest felid; it is very strong and beautiful. So it is also one of the favorite animals for people to watch in the zoo. At present there are only 400 wild-growing Siberian tigers all round the world, their number is getting less and less. The reason of tigers being in dangerous situation is mainly due to people cutting down forests, leading to tigers losing their habitats. Consequently, we should protect Siberian tiger, for example, to build more natural reserves and seriously prohibit to hunt tiger.

给WWF的一封信 英语作文

Dear Editor,Recently several small shops around our school have started a new business called“school lottery”.The lottery is becoming more and more popular. Each lottery ticket costs five jiao and lots of students get addicted to this game. Some students use their money which should be spent on food to buy the tickets and some even borrow money to join in the chance game.In my opinion,it is necessary to take measures to stop the game on campus. On one hand, the school should explain the harmful effects of lottery to students and make rules to forbid students to buy lottery tickets. On the other hand, the local government should punish shop owners who carry our such business among students. If both the school and the government cooperate in fighting it.I think the school lottery activity will be effectively stopped.Yours sincerely.Chen HuaDear editor:Recently we have had a heated discussion on whether people should keep pets at home in cities. Some students think it's a good idea to keep pets because many old people who live alone at home can get some comforts from pets. Besides , getting along well with animals will make our life interesting. On the contrary the other students are against the idea. In their opinion if too many people keep pets at home, it's bad for the environment. What is worse, pets may make too much noise and even attack people.I like animals, so I don't think it's bad to keep pets at home. But we must take some measures to prevent them from polluting our environment.

Scientific Name Elephas maximus (southern Asia), Loxodonta africana (Africa) Location Africa, Asia These large and magnificent creatures need a lot of food and freedom if they are to survive. They wander in small to large herds over sometimes incredibly large areas while consuming up to several hundred kilogrammes of plant matter in a single day. Elephants, in fact, place such great demands on their own environment that in order to survive, it will frequently bring them into conflict with man who is competing for many of these same, often scarce resources. On the ground on two continents In all, the problems facing elephants in Asia and Africa are varied and complex. To this end, WWF is involved in their conservation through 2 key programmes which address local key issues, the realities faced on the ground, and this ever present conflict with man. These programmes are: Asian Rhinos and Elephants Action Strategy (AREAS): This ambitious Programme brings together cutting edge conservation biology with trade monitoring, socio-economic analysis, and policy advocacy, promising new hope for dwindling populations of these threatened pachyderms. WWF African Elephant Programme: The Programme aims to conserve forest and savanna elephant populations across Africa by supporting projects that improve protection and management, build capacity within range states, mitigate human-elephant conflict and reduce illegal trade. Physical Description Species Description Elephants are identified by their massive bodies and their trunk, which is used to pick a variety of objects, including food. The head is large in relation to the rest of the body and the African species is noted for its very large ears. Hair is sparse. The Asian elephant has four hooves (occasionally five) on the hind foot and five on the forefoot, and the African elephant has three on the hind foot and five on the forefoot. Size Living members of the order Proboscidea have a maximum height of nearly 400 cm and a weight of up to 7,500 kg. Habitat Biogeographic realm Indo-Malayan, Afrotropical Geographical Location Africa, Asia The giant panda has a very distinctive black-and-white coat, and adults measure around 1.5m long and around 75cm tall at the shoulder. Males can weigh up to 115 kg (253 pounds). Females are generally smaller than males, and can occasionally weigh up to 100 kg (220 pounds). Giant pandas live in mountainous regions, such as Sichuan, Gansu, Shaanxi, and Tibet. While the Chinese dragon has been historically a national emblem for China, since the latter half of the 20th century, the panda has also become an informal national emblem for China, and its image is found on many Chinese gold coins. Despite being taxonomically a carnivore, the panda has a diet that is primarily herbivorous, which almost exclusively consists of bamboo. This is an evolutionarily recent adaptation, or perhaps just a very awkward one; pandas lack the proper enzymes to digest bamboo efficiently, and thus derive little energy and little protein from it. While primarily herbivorus, the panda still retains decidedly ursine teeth, and will readily eat meat, fish, and eggs when available, but their sluggish speeds, a consequence of their mainly bamboo diet, ensure that these more energy-rich foods are seldom available to them outside of captivity. In captivity, zoos typically maintain the pandas' bamboo diet, though some will provide specially formulated biscuits or other dietary supplements. Unlike most bears, but like most subtropical mammals, the giant panda does not hibernate. For many decades the precise taxonomic classification of the panda was under debate as both the giant panda and the distantly related red panda share characteristics of both bears and raccoons. However, genetic testing suggests that giant pandas are true bears and part of the Ursidae family, though they differentiated early in history from the main ursine stock. The giant panda's closest bear relative is the Spectacled Bear of South America. (Disagreement remains about whether or not the red panda belongs in Ursidae; the raccoon family, Procyonidae; or in its own family, Ailuridae.) Giant pandas are an endangered species, threatened by continued habitat loss and by a very low birthrate, both in the wild and in captivity. Poaching is uncommon; killing a panda was punishable in China by death until a 1997 law changed the penalty to 20 years imprisonment. The giant panda has an unusual paw, with a "thumb" and five fingers; the "thumb" is actually a modified sesamoid bone, which helps the panda to hold the bamboo while ...

PollutionSea pollution is becoming an increasing problem for our planet and we have a responsibility to reduce sea pollution.I need to describe the problem. Our ship currently dumps all its rubbish into the sea. It's easy to result in huge endanger. First of all, Non-organic substances such as plastic bags kill fish and whales. Because fish get trapped and whales cannot digest them. Secondly some rubbish is inherently toxic.I can suggest some solutions. First and foremost we can create a better system of disposing of rubbish for instance. We ought to store rubbish. Next, we are supposed to make ships environmentally and friendly. A case in point is that we should stop providing plastic bags.We must act now before it is too late!海洋污染英语作文二:Reduce Sea PollutionSeveral problems are caused by the non-organic substance. We ought not to pour wastes into the ocean, because it not only pollutes the ocean, but also lead to a series of harmful consequence. First and foremost, the non-organnic things, for instance, plastic bags, may kill fish and whales. Second, fishes can't digest them. Finally, some of the rubbish is inherently toxic, they will posion marine life.We must take actions to protect our whale from dying. One thing we should do is creating a better system of disposing of rubbish. Another effective solution is making ships environmentally friendly. Sypermarkets shall stop the giving of plastic bags.As a captain of the ship, you should spare no efforts to think more helpful ideas and stop dumping rubbish from now on. We all need to raise awareness of these problems. It now becomes necessary that we must act now, before it is too late!海洋污染英语作文三:Sea pollutionBetween 75 and 80% of marine pollution is caused by land, particularly agriculture. 30% of this is from the atmosphere. Around 12% of the pollution is caused by maritime transport. In South America, 98% of domestic wastewater ends up, untreated, in the sea. The countries along the Mediterranean Sea throw 50 million tons of waste into it every year and the Chinese throw 60 million tons of waste into the Yellow sea daily. Over half of the hydrocarbon discharge comes from continents, 5% comes from oil tanker accidents, 20% comes from waste and other ship-related accidents, 4% from sea exploitation and 11 to 15% is due to natural causes. Accidental pollution through hydrocarbon is significantly decreasing and only represents a small percentage of waste through degassing estimated at between 1.5 and 3 million tons of oil a year. In 2003, according to the WWF, between 0.7 and 1.3 million tons of oil were spread by degassing in the Mediterranean. According to the Ifremer (the French Institute for Exploitation of the Sea), coastal water pollution cost the world economy almost 12.8 billion dollars in 2006.Marine pollution is the result of products being thrown into seas and oceans, mostly by mnkind: domestic waste (sewage and rubbish, pollutants in runoff water...), industrial waste (hydrocarbons, metals, synthetic chemical and organic substances, radionuclides...) and agricultural waste (fertilisers, pesticides...).This includes water pollution and marine sediments, and more generally all damage to marine ecosystems caused by harmful substances being discharged into the sea, either by their nature or their quantity.海洋污染英语作文四:Sea PollutionMarine environment is one in water, seawater tolerance hydrolyzate and suspended solids, seabed sediment and marine organisms, including complex systems. Ocean rich biological resources, mineral resources, chemical resources and power resources is an indispensable resource treasure house of human beings, with human survival and development of the relationship very close. The main objective of the current marine conservation is to protect the living marine resources, so as not to failure, in order for human sustainable use. In particular, give priority to protect those valuable and critically endangered marine life. According to the UN for investigation, due to overfishing, accidental capture and killing of non-target to allow hunting of marine, coastal shoreline construction, mangrove deforestation, widespread marine pollution, at least the world's 25 most valuable fishery resources depleted, whales, sea turtles, manatees and many other marine animals face extinction risk. Is expected that with the expansion of the scale of ocean development,Marine living resources are likely to cause more damage. The task of the first marine protected right to stop over-exploitation of living marine resources and secondly to protect the habitat of marine life or habit...

PandasPandas are my favourite animals. In fact, all the people like pands as well. Pandas living in the wild can live for 20 years while the pandas that live in the zoos can have a life of more thqn 30 years. Pandas are really lovely. They can not only climb trees but also swim. However, the number of pandas is decreasing sharply. It is said that there are only 1000 pandas remaining in the world at present. It is sad news for all of us. Therefore, we are supposed to take measures to protect pandas in order to prevent them from dying out.大熊猫是我最喜欢的动物。
